About Our Programs

Instructor-led courses make training time more effective and productive with an easy, step-by-step instructional format. These fun and engaging programs help people feel more ready to respond and keep their skills fresh and ready to use by giving them tools to remember what they’ve learned.

Training is available through traditional classroom and blended learning options. Our blended learning option includes an online portion combined with one hands-on skills session with an instructor. 

​Our programs are based on the 2015 International Consensus on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Science with Treatment Recommendations (CoSTR) and other evidence-based recommendations for care.

This course covers specific topics, knowledge, and skills required for Licence Childcare Providers required to learn how to prevent and respond to medical emergencies involving infants, children, and adults.

Medic First is approved by the Health & Safety Institute (HSI) to teach the MEDIC First Aid PediatricPlus training program. HSI’s MEDIC First Aid PediatricPlus training program is approved statewide by the California EMS Authority (EMSA) and fulfills California training requirements for childcare providers (22 CA ADC §100000.17).”

Childcare providers completing this course will have the EMSA stickers placed directly on their certification cards.

Completion Time: 8 hours

Who should take this course? If you work in childcare, this is the right class for you. If you are not a childcare professional, the best class for you would be a standard CPR AED and First Aid Class.

This training program is designed specifically for the occupational first aid provider.

This extremely flexible program will help employees meet OSHA and other Federal and State regulatory requirements for training to respond to and care for medical emergencies at work.

Blended Learning: Online Session + Hands-on Skills = Certification


Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid or Pediatric – Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid 

Blended Learning combines the convenience of online learning that meets knowledge and hands-on skills objectives with an instructor.

There are flexible schedules for individuals or groups.

It’s important to note that participants must successfully complete both the online lessons and the hands-on skills session with an Instructor to obtain certification.

Completion Time 
Online session: 2.5 hours. 
Hands-On Skills Session with Instructor: 1.5 hours

Instructor-led skills sessions can be scheduled Monday – Saturday from 5 A.M.. – 10 P.M.

Note: Blended Learning is not for childcare providers

The American Heart Association BLS Course provides the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. Updated to reflect new 2015 science, BLS teaches the concepts of high-quality CPR, improvement of chest compression fraction, and high-performing team dynamics.

BLS from AHA offers the advantages of content representing the latest resuscitation science for improved patient outcomes – realistic scenarios, simulations, and animations depicting rescuers, teams, and patients – as well as course and content flexibility for AHA Instructors and students, including adaptability to local protocols.

Who should take the course?

This course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely, and effective manner. The course is suitable for both certified or non-certified, licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals in a wide variety of in-facility and pre-hospital settings.

Course Covers:

  • The components of high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • The AHA Chain of Survival for Prehospital and in-facility providers
  • Important early use of an AED
  • Effective ventilations using a barrier device
  • Importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR
  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

Course Delivery:

BLS can be delivered in two formats to meet the needs of students and offer flexibility for instructors. All formats include the same learning objectives and result in the same course completion card.

  1. Instructor-led Training – Instructors deliver both the cognitive portion of training and the psychomotor component of thorough skills practice and testing in a classroom setting.
  2. Blended Learning – HeartCode BLS – includes a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes the online course in a self-directed manner, and a hands-on skills session with an Instructor.

Blended Learning consists of an Online Session + Hands-On Skills with an Instructor = Certification

Blended Learning Courses:

  • American Heart Association BLS CPR AED Providers
  • Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid
  • Pediatric – Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid

Blended Training combines the convenience of online learning that meets knowledge and hands-on skills objectives with an instructor and flexible schedules for individuals or groups.

Note: Participants must successfully complete online lessons and hands-on skills sessions to obtain certification.

Once the online session has been completed, the hands-on skill can be scheduled. This may be done on the same day.

Instructor Course Cancellation & Refund Policy
Please choose your instructor’s class carefully before scheduling. If you must cancel your scheduled training, we require 10 (ten) business days before the first meeting of that particular training class. If paid, you may request a refund if you cancel at least 10 (ten) business days prior to the scheduled class, less a $10.00 service charge per class and per participant. Cancellation notices received less than ten (10) business days before the start of the course will not be refunded, but will be held as a credit for 180 days or until the next instructor’s course.

American Heart Association BLS (CPR) for Healthcare Providers

This course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals with the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely, and effective manner.

The course is available for certified or non-certified, licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings

Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid

This training program is designed specifically for the occupational first aid provider.

This extremely flexible program will help employers meet OSHA and other federal and state regulatory requirements for training employees on how to respond to and care for medical emergencies at work.

Pediatric – Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid

The program provides an ideal training solution for Teachers, Special Education Teachers, PE Teachers, School Bus Drivers, Coaches, Personal Trainers, Security Guards, Babysitters, and others required to learn how to respond to medical emergencies involving children.

This comprehensive program helps meet diverse job requirements for pediatric health and safety training. The program is designed specifically for the occupational first aid provider.

California Emergency Medical Services – Pediatric -Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid

Perfect for Childcare Centers, Home Childcare Providers, and School Districts

The course covers specific topics, knowledge, and skills required for License Childcare Providers, School Bus Drivers, Foster Parents, and Adopting Parents required to learn how to prevent and respond to medical emergencies involving infants, children, and adults. Childcare providers completing the course will have EMSA stickers placed directly on their certification cards.

The California Emergency Medical Services Authority and California Highway Patrol approves Medic First Aid PediatricPlus Program.

Emergency Medical Services & California Highway Patrol – Pediatric – Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid

Perfect for School Bus Drivers

The course covers specific topics, knowledge, and skills required for School Bus Drivers required to learn how to prevent and respond to medical emergencies involving infants, children, and adults. The California Emergency Services Authority and California Highway Patrol approves Medic First Aid PediatricPlus Program.

Bloodborne Pathogens

Bloodborne Pathogens in the Workplace training program is intended for individuals who are trained as CPR and/or first aid providers or have an identified job classification in which there are tasks or procedures that increase the risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

There are no class prerequisites.

The goal of this training program is to provide knowledge to employees with an identified risk on how to avoid exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials, and what steps will be taken if exposure occurs.

Advanced Bleeding Control

Medic First Aid is designed to provide detailed information on the control of severe external bleeding, including the use of direct pressure, commercial pressure bandages, tourniquets, and packed dressings.

Advanced Bleeding Control is designed for groups and individuals who have a greater than average chance of witnessing an injury event in which heavy bleeding occurs and professional medical care is not readily available or is overwhelmed, such as law enforcement, private security, workplace emergency response team personnel and staff at large events, campuses or large occupied buildings.

Emergency Oxygen

Serious and life-threatening medical emergencies often cause oxygen to be depleted in the body leaving the victim at risk for shock. MEDIC First Aid Emergency Oxygen program focuses on administering emergency oxygen to breathing and non-breathing persons, emergency oxygen delivery systems, and integrating pulse oximetry.

Perfect for individuals who desire or are required to be trained in the administration of emergency oxygen.

Prerequisites include current CPR or CPR and First Aid Certification.

Use and Administration of Epinephrine Auto-Injectors – Emergency Medical Services

Medic First Use and Administration of Epinephrine Auto-Injectors program teaches students about the causes of severe allergic reactions and how to recognize and treat anaphylaxis. It covers how to use epinephrine auto-injectors, the legal considerations for administering epinephrine, and how to prepare for an anaphylactic emergency.

Perfect for individuals who desire or are required to be trained in the administration of Epinephrine Auto-Injector.

The California Emergency Services Authority approves Medic First Program.

Instructor Development Course (IDC)

IDC is intended for individuals wanting to train others as authorized Instructors for MEDIC First Aid branded emergency care training programs.

The minimum prerequisites for taking the IDC are:
• Current provider certification in layperson Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, AED, First Aid, and/or
• Demonstrated competency in layperson adult, child, and infant CPR, AED, and first aid skill objectives

The minimum recommended age to take the IDC is 17.

Maturity, responsibility, and classroom presence should always be considered, regardless of age.

The goal of the IDC is to help candidates develop into capable trainers.
